My partner and I set off for Sweden to take a break from everyday life, reconnect with nature and enjoy each other's company. It became a road trip with two stops.
Our first stop was in Furudal in Dalarna, where we stayed at Oddis Öga, a tiny cabin hidden deep in the Swedish forest. Arriving at the peaceful spot felt like stepping into another world.
The first thing we did when we arrived was light the fireplace to warm up the cabin. Then we enjoyed a lovely meal our friendly hosts had delivered. The cabin was small but held everything we needed: the seating area folded out into a large, comfortable bed, and the fireplace kept everything warm and cozy.
We fetched water nearby, and the fireplace also worked as a stove, making it easy to cook dinner. One of the highlights was lying in bed, feeling the warmth of the fireplace and looking out at the calm forest. We ended the day with a relaxing session in the sauna.
It wasn't just the cabin itself. It was the feeling of being completely tucked away in the forest, with the warmth of the fireplace and the quiet forest right outside the window.
Lying in bed with the warmth from the fireplace and ending the evening in the private sauna made it one of the most relaxing stays we've had.
We mostly stayed by the cabin and enjoyed the quiet. If you want more adventure, the forests around Furudal are lovely to walk in, and then there's something special about eating a meal by the warmth of the fireplace. Finish with a session in the private sauna.
